2022 Edible Holiday Gifts – Part 5

It’s down to the wire, just a couple of days until Christmas. Do you need a last minute gift? If so, this “recipe” is for you. These mini brownie blossoms are inspired by peanut butter blossom cookies.

A perfect chocolate-lovers bite

This recipe combines a mini fudgy brownie with a Hershey’s Kiss to create a yummy, double-chocolate treat. To save time, these blossoms take advantage of store-bought brownie mix because, as delicious as homemade brownies are, time is precious. There are some very good brands out there so use the best brownie mix you can find. We really like Ghirardelli mixes. Hershey’s mixes are also very good.

Get the kids involved

You could make the preparation of these brownie blossoms a fun family activity. If you have some little ones you need to entertain while trying to get these last-minute gifts prepared, have them lend a helping hand.

The kids can unwrap the Kisses for you (just be sure not too many pop into their mouths) and they can also line the mini muffin tins with holiday-themed paper liners. Depending on they’re age, they could also help with placing the Kisses in the baked brownies – just be careful as there is a hot pan and hot brownies involved in this step.

Ready for gift giving

If you wanted to get really fancy you could drizzle the brownie blossoms with some white chocolate and sprinkle with some festive sprinkles. Otherwise, once they are cooled, pop them into a container, wrap it up with a bow, and you are ready to go.

And that’s a wrap on the 2022 edition of edible gifts. Happy holidays!

Description

These cute little two-bite treats take advantage of boxed brownie mix. They are perfect for a dessert buffet, as part of a bakery box gift, or with a cup of tea in the afternoon.

Ingredients

Scale

1 package fudge brownie mix (13-inch x 9-inch size)*

48 striped Hershey Kisses (like HUGS)**

Powdered sugar for dusting, optional

Instructions

Unwrap the Hershey Kisses and place in the freezer.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Line a mini muffin tin with paper muffin cups. Set aside.***

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Fill each muffin cup to two-thirds full.

Bake for 18-21 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Immediately top each mini brownie with a chocolate kiss. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to cool completely on a wire rack.

Optional: dust lightly with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

* We recommend using the best brownie mix you can find. We like Ghirardelli mixes.

** You could also use cookies & cream kisses or any others that provide a contrast to the brownie.

*** You could also bake these mini brownie blossoms in a well-greased mini muffin tin. Once they are cooled, you can place them into pretty paper muffin cups (like you would with chocolate truffles). Makes for a pretty presentation and the brownies won’t stick to the paper.
