2024 Edible Holiday Gifts – Part 3

Snack mixes make an easy and tasty gift, especially when sweet treats abound. The great thing about this snack mix is it only requires measuring and mixing, no cooking or baking. It also features one of my favorite ingredients, furikake, as a primary seasoning.

Furikake Snack Mix - overhead

Start with prepackaged snacks

This mix features some of our favorite snacks – cheese balls, chicharrons (pork rinds), and kakimochi (Japanese rice crackers). Popcorn oil (butter flavored) adds a bit of seasoning but its purpose is to allow the furikake, the real flavor workhorse, to adhere to everything else.

Once mixed, a little drying time is all that’s needed before the mix can be packaged up or served to your party guests. That’s it.

Choose your own adventure

Once you have the basic recipe, you can add or remove your favorite snacks to the mix. Some options include – thin pretzels, popcorn, cereal (like Crispix), or peanuts. It’s really up to you and which snacks you like best.
