There’s always room for dessert and I wanted to dedicate a post just to the sweet life. I decided to focus on donuts and ice cream. As with all these posts, this is just a sampling of some of my favs.
Kane’s Donuts
Of the different donut shops that are around Boston, Kane’s is my favorite. I like the variety of donuts that they make and love the apple fritters that they make in the fall. They also make a selection of gluten-free donuts that are great for friends with allergies. Everyone deserves a treat!

Blackbird Doughnuts
Blackbird Doughnuts is a close second to Kane’s. I have several friends who love the Everything Bagel Doughnut but it’s not at the top of my list. I do love the salted caramel pretzel doughnut. When you need a fun treat the stacks of three mini cake doughnuts are perfect.

Cabot’s Ice Cream
Cabot’s is a good old fashioned ice cream parlor that serves generous servings of ice cream, hot fudge, and any other toppings you would want. It’s popular with families who have clearly gone there for generations. Fun, friendly, yummy.

J.P. Licks
J.P. Licks feels like a Boston institution. They serve lots of fun flavors, including some boozy ones, great sorbets, and “healthier” soft-serve (not that I’ve tried any of them). As soon as the weather gets warm the line at the Coolidge Corner shop is out the door.
