Nutella Pots de Crème

Jamie Oliver’s Chocolate Pots is one of my favorite go-to desserts. Served in individual glasses or espresso cups, they are perfect for a dinner party or to have on hand when I want a little treat. One day I started thinking about modifying the recipe to include the chocolate-hazelnut goodness of Nutella and this recipe was born.

Nutella Pot de Crème - single

To modify the recipe I simply replaced half the dark chocolate with Nutella. Et voilà, I had a delicious version of the original. Yep, it’s that simple.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the pots de crème are garnished with freshly whipped cream and crushed freeze dried strawberries. You could also use crushed hazelnuts, shaved chocolate, or fresh berries – whatever you fancy. The pots de crème are perfect on their own but you could serve them with cookies and espresso on the side.

Description

These heavenly pots de crème celebrate the chocolate-hazelnut goodness of Nutella. The recipe is inspired by Jamie Oliver’s Chocolate Pots.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup heavy cream

3.5 ounces bittersweet chocolate (70% cocoa solids)

3.5 ounces Nutella (about 6 tablespoons)

2 large egg yolks

2 tablespoons brandy or Frangelico

2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

In a thick bottomed pan, heat the cream until nearly boiling. Remove and set aside for 1 minute before adding chocolate and Nutella. Stir in until melted and smooth. The mixture may look broken, continue to stir until fully incorporated.

Once melted, beat in the egg yolks and brandy/Frangelico and stir until smooth. Allow to cool slightly then add the butter. Mix until smooth.

Divide evenly between six individual 4-ounce cups or glasses and place in the refrigerator to set (about 2 hours).

Top with whipped cream. Garnish with chopped hazelnuts, shaved chocolate, or fresh berries, if desired.
