This fall punch is a combination of sweet-tart apple cider, Southern bourbon, and herbal thyme. It’s a festive way to kick off a holiday feast.

Thyme Simple Syrup

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup water

¼ cup loosely packed thyme sprigs

Bourbon Apple Cider Thyme Punch

4 cups apple cider

2½ cups bourbon

1¼ cups club soda

Thyme Simple Syrup

1 apple, thinly sliced

Thyme sprigs, for garnish

For the thyme simple syrup

Combine sugar, water, and thyme sprigs in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.

Remove from heat, and cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Remove and discard thyme sprigs.

For the punch

Stir together apple cider, bourbon, club soda, and Thyme simple syrup, in a pitcher. Serve over ice, and garnish with apple slices and thyme sprigs.

The original recipe called for 12 dashes of Angostura bitters which you can add back in to create the original punch.
